Description

This series contains photographs and papers regarding architecture conferences and exhibitions (including The Royal Australian Institute of Architects Exhibition, The Sydney Homes Exhibition, Annual Conventions of Architects, The University of Melbourne Open Days, etc.) across Australia (and in London, UK and Osaka, Japan) in the 1950s and 1960s. The photographs in this series were published in the Cross-Section newsletter between 1956 and 1970. Notable architects include Clarke Gazzard Yeomans and John Dalton & Peter Heathwood. Notable photographers include David Moore and Max Dupain.

Three black and white prints of the proposed Australian Pavilion for the Osaka Expo 1970 held in Osaka, Japan. One print is an external view of the model, designed by James McCormack, principal architect of Commonwealth PWD and the other two prints are of an external and internal view of 'The Space Tube' designed by Romberg & Boyd, architects. The photograph of the model and the exterior view of 'The Space Tube' were published in Cross-Section no. 190, Aug 1968.

Designed by final year architecture students Kym MacCormac & Tony Panell, it was a display a student architectural work from the previous ten years and was on display for the 1968 Adelaide Festival. A photograph of the model was published in Cross-Section no. 185, Mar 1968 and the non-aerial photograph of the completed structure was published in Cross-Section no. 189, July 1968.
