Description | This series contains photographs related to sports facilities (including showground facilities, and facilities for the 1956 Olympic Games and 1962 Commonwealth Games) across Australia in the 1950s and 1960s. The photographs in this series were published in the Cross-Section newsletter between 1954 and 1970. Notable buildings include renovation of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Melbourne Olympic Games athletes’ housing. Notable architects include James Birrell, John Mockridge, Clarke Gazzard Yeomans and Leith Bartlett & Partners. Notable photographers include Max Dupain, David Moore, Mark Strizic, Ian McKenzie and Fritz Kos. |
